THE STEWARDSHIP OF TIME
Time moves on with each ticking of the clock, each winding of the watch and each turning of the calendar. Life moves on with each beat of the heart, each journey completed and each goal achieved. The past is memory and the future is hope. There is no way to change the scheme of things. We simply adjust to the patterns of our existence. Life is not so much a matter of altering circumstances as it is a matter of altering attitudes. The passing of time is inevitable. The longer we live the less likely we will live much longer. The key to happiness is not found in the amount of time lived, but in the quality of time given to the things that really matter. Age is relative. Whatever is left of us in terms of time and energy can be productive if we are committed to the best that is within us. God does not hand us life on a silver platter. We are created with a freedom to make the most or the least out of what happens to us.
Time is the stuff out of which life is made, and it can be either our enemy or our friend. We have the capacity to make it harmful or helpful. For example, it takes time to become a reprobate. It takes time to become addicted to evil's cunning devices. It takes time to sin away our spiritual birthrights. It takes time to develop a hateful disposition. It takes time to nurture our hates and hostilities. It takes time to make enemies.
On the other hand, it takes time to be holy. It takes time to develop our walk with God. It takes time to cultivate a disposition of grace. It takes time to learn the lessons of love and forgiveness. It takes time to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. It takes time to make friends and have a godly influence. It takes time to fulfill our highest hopes. It takes time to be in love with life. It takes time to make time our friend.
The stewardship of time, therefore, is one of life's most demanding requirements. We cannot treat time as though we have an inexhaustible supply of it. There are precious moments to be guarded and there are diffucult times to be endured. There are happy days to celebrate and sorrowful events to mourn. Being good stewards of time means that we learn and grow as we adjust to whatever life imposes upon us. Farth prepares us for the unexpected. Love gives us a new lease on life. Hope anticipates God's glorious tomorrow. Worship enables us to fit the pieces of life's puzzle into the time frame of our allotted days.
Have a happy future with God and with loved ones who help you make the most of your time.
