Right and
Wrong
Is it all right to
be wrong? It's not if we know what we are
doing. "To him who knows to do right and does it
not, to him it is a sin." It's not all right
to be wrong when we deliberately disobey the will of
God. It's not right to violate the inner decency of
our being. We will be held accountable for the way we
bribe our conscience and mutilate our self-respect.
It's not all right to be wrong if we know better.
It is all right to
be wrong if we struggle in ignorance and make some wrong
decisions as long as repentance and honesty prevail.
It's all right not to know all the answers if our goal is
to let God guide us to the truth. It's all right to
admit our frailty. In fact, it may be the beginning of
spiritual birth to acknowledge that sin is the culprit
leading our lives toward defeat. It's all right to
struggle with the issues of life and give God some growing
room in our hearts.
Only those too
right to ever be wrong are the ones who will never know the
relief of confession and the joy of forgiveness. Only
those for whom repentance is only a word and never a deed
will have the emptiness of despair as a constant
companion. It's disastrous to try to play God with
such limited resources. Yes, it's all right to be
wrong when we trust God for our righteousness. It's
all right to be human as long as we honor the image of God
within.
Is it all right to
be wrong? It all depends on our capacity for
grace. "For by grace are you saved through faith
and that not of yourselves." If we are willing to
let God be God, we are equipped to let our weakness rest on
His strength. Our wrongness blends into His goodness
for in Him our salvation is secure. Hallelujah, what a
Savior!!
