The tendency some folk have to play God is a terrible curse upon their human happiness. It is an exhausting procedre to assume the role of judge over everyone's thoughts and activities. There is no rest for people who are always right and feel compelled to force everyone else to conform to their views. It is hard work for these critics to sneak around and make sure everyone who teaches and preaches is doing so according to their own prejudices. Such folk are the religious descendants of the Pharisees, who felt it was their duty to crush any new iea that Jesus might propose.
It is a terrible way to live and for the most part these are unhappy peoplewho struggle under the burden of a god complex. If only they could know the love of God as well as the law of God they could have peace in their hearts. Pride is their terrible taskmaster that keeps them forever proving to themselves and others that they have God's priviledged information. There can be no peace in the mind of a person who must have all the right answers and who feels compelled to explain the infinite God with such finite credentials.
Of course, there must always be a struggle to know the mind of God, but with a humility taht confesses one's inadequate grasp. There can be no real learning and no real spiritual growth among those who feel superior. Perhaps those who are wisest among us are those who by faith learn from God each day without looking down on anyone.
Of a truth they serve Satan best,
Who will not their critical faculty rest.
May God's love abide,
With those who must hide,
Their humanity inside.
