MEMORIES

One of the significant features of life as we grow older is a set of dear memories which we establish along the way.  Our minds have a marvelous capacity to store sweet relationships and special events where love and happiness prevailed.  It is indeed an act of grace to be able to recall those beautiful moments and celebrate the goodness of God.  Worship is enhanced by memory which allows us to focus our attention on the One from whom all blessings flow.  Of a truth God is the author of our dear memories as He leads us to people, places and events of unforgettable consequences.

Of course memory can be painful and harsh if the quality of our relationships have been characterized by nagging neglect.  In no way can we draw rich dividends from our memory banks unless along the way we make some significant deposits.  We cannot ignore the fact that how we live today greatly affects our happiness tomorrow.  We are all in the process of building some memories and how blessed we will be in years to come if we can look back and call them "precious."

Do not despair, however, if your memories are sad.  In love God calls us to remember, to repent and to start a whole new set of memories.  In the context of His grace he gives us a place to begin again.  When memories are sad and life has lost its zest, God gives us a reason to remember our hope.  It is the Lord Jesus our Savior who says, "This do in remembrance of Me." How blessed we are today to be able to invest in some future memories of noteable quality.
